In the second year of our partnership with Dogs Trust, we’re focused on helping children build safe, respectful relationships with dogs and helping our paw-some companions take one step closer to their forever homes.
The ABCs
Children and dogs can make the best of friends sharing fun, adventures, and lots of happy memories. To help make sure those moments stay safe and positive, Dogs Trust created The ABCs of Being a Dog’s Best Friend. This easy-to-access guide includes digital resources designed to help children and their whole families better understand how to build strong, safe, lasting bonds with their dogs.
A is for Affection
Show love in ways dogs understand (gentle snuggles instead of hugs, soft strokes instead of kisses).
B is for Busy
Notice when dogs are eating, resting, or playing, and give them space.
C is for Choice
Let dogs choose how and when to interact, if they walk away, respect it.

The ABCs.
The ABCs are three simple principles that encourage thoughtful, safe interactions, helping children feel confident and helping dogs feel comfortable.

Our four-legged friends.
It’s a natural fit with Hush Puppies’ belief that small acts of kindness can make a big difference. By learning to recognise how dogs communicate and what they need, we’re not just keeping everyone safe, we’re building stronger, happier bonds between children and their four-legged friends.
